I paused for a moment, then gave her the answer. "South District."
That clearly caught her off guard. "Why South District? From what I know about Silverbrook, the South District has the weakest economy. It's chaotic, underdeveloped, and the farthest from the North District. No matter how you look at it, that shouldn't be your first choice."
"I've got my reasons. Let's just call it a secret for now."
I didn't tell her my real motivation; thankfully, she didn't press. She muttered over the phone, "Driving from North District to South District takes about an hour and a half. It's a good thing you're still in the same city. I guess—it's doable."
"When are you leaving?" she asked.
"First thing tomorrow."
