Chapter 808
My chest tightened, and my fingers curled at my sides.
Sophia's words made too much sense. Nydia really did have a clear motive to set us up. If she was behind it, then she was far more calculating than I had ever imagined.
I pressed my lips together and asked in a low voice, "Besides her, do you suspect anyone else?"
Sophia smirked coldly. "Joshua, why don't you stop and think for once? Who stands to gain the most from what happened today?"
Her words snapped me back into focus. I looked at her, but deep down, I already had the answer.
Based on how things had played out, Nydia seemed like the most likely mastermind. She could take revenge on Sophia and sabotage my relationship with Joanna, all in one move.
A wave of guilt washed over me. I turned to Sophia, my voice softened. "Sophia, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have doubted you."
She stared at me, her expression full of disdain. "If 'sorry' could fix things, why would we need law enforcement?"
Her sarcasm hit me square in the gut.
