Chapter 15 We're Not Back Together
Cameron never came back to the master bedroom that night. Audrey actually liked how quiet it was. She locked the door, stretched out, and slept like a rock.
By the time she opened her eyes again, sunlight was already spilling through the windows.
She washed up, stepped out, and found Cameron and Macie downstairs in the dining room, having breakfast together. Julia must've taken the dog for a walk, so it was just the two of them at the table.
Cameron was bent over, peeling a hard-boiled egg for Macie, his face softened in a way Audrey had never seen before.
For no clear reason, Ian flashed through her mind again, and a sharp, restless ache flared in her chest.
Macie spotted her first. Her smile unfurled, smooth and deliberate. "Audrey, you're up. Come have some breakfast."
She motioned to the neatly arranged sandwiches on the table. "I made these myself just for you. I wasn't sure what you liked, so I went with Cam's usual. I hope that's okay."
