The woman realized that Chloe was looking at her, so she lifted her head and smiled at her. "All done here, sir. I'll be leaving now," she said respectfully before stepping out of the office. As soon as the woman closed the door, Chloe asked, "I’ve never seen her here.” Joseph replied, "She’s a recent hire. The former finance personnel were imprisoned for embezzlement." "Were you the one who interviewed and hired her?" "No, HR did that," Joseph answered, "Why do you ask?" Chloe said a little skeptically, "You seem to treat her differently from other employees." Frowning in confusion, Joseph asked, "How do I treat her any differently?" "You don't like people getting too close to you, right? But her hair just brushed against your neck." "That’s all?" Chloe was stunned, but she suppressed her anger and smiled at him. "That’s all? Are you implying that I'm making a fuss out of nothing? Ask yourself, why would a person who doesn't like others getting close to them be okay with this close contact? Under normal circumstances, you’d adjust your posture to avoid coming in contact with the other person." Joseph smiled and hugged Chloe. "Are you jealous?" "Huh?" Chloe pinched his thigh. "Get away from me! I’m not jealous, you jerk!" Joseph winced in pain but did not let her go. With their faces so close, their breaths intertwined. "There is only you in my heart. I have no feelings toward her, I swear,” he said. His serious tone caused Chloe to blush involuntarily. She glared at him and said, "You better not have any thoughts about her. Now, I'm the precious daughter of the Sullivan family. I can have any handsome man I want. I can always find a replacement for you." As for Jasper, they could fight for custody through legal means, and Jasper liked her more now. "Such nonsense," Joseph said sternly as his grip on her tightened. Chloe stared at him challengingly and retorted, "What's the matter? I'm just telling you like it is." He slowly moved his hand upward and stopped at her chest. "Are you sure you wanna go there?" She instantly understood his intentions. She felt a mixture of embarrassment and anger as she snarled, "Stop it! We're in a place of work! People might see us, you jerk!" Joseph cocked an eyebrow and said, "What’re you talking about? I just noticed that your shirt button is about to come undone." He fastened the button for her. Chloe snorted. "I’m not a fool, Joseph." "Okay, okay. You wanted to eat at the restaurant downstairs, right? Come on, let’s go. Otherwise, my precious baby might starve." Chloe broke free from his embrace and said, "Stay away from me. We're not that close." "Not close? But we saw each other's naked bodies last night." Chloe did not know what to say in retort. Just as the pair was about to head to the restaurant, Chloe's phone rang. It was a message from Zoelle asking if she had time to grab dinner. After some discussion, Chloe and Joseph decided to invite Zoelle to join them. She would not be asking Chloe out for dinner if there was not something urgent. Fifty minutes later, Zoelle arrived wearing a khaki trench coat and sunglasses. Noticing that Zoelle was without makeup, Chloe clicked her tongue in wonder and commented, "Wow! You're not wearing makeup today." Zoelle tossed her handbag onto a chair and said indifferently, "I haven't been going out lately, so I've been too lazy to put on makeup." Chloe nodded understandingly. She did not bother with makeup when she lounged around at home as well. After placing their orders, Chloe said, "All right, spill the beans.”
