Seeing how violently Noah was coughing, I suddenly remembered what Nathan had said earlier on the phone.
Without thinking, I reached for my phone and started to dial 911, but before I could complete the call, Noah grabbed my wrist to stop me. His grip was weak, and I could feel his hand trembling against mine.
He shook his head slightly. “Don’t call an ambulance,” he said, his voice hoarse and unsteady. “I’m fine.”
He paused briefly, as if trying to steady his breathing.
“Just… give me a minute.”
I paused, still holding my phone, unsure whether to believe him.
True to his words, after a few minutes, the coughing gradually subsided, and his breathing began to steady, though it was still heavier than normal. Even then, his hand remained wrapped around my wrist, his grip not loosening in the slightest.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” I asked, my brows drawing together slightly.
