When I finally collected myself, I returned to the museum’s café where I had left Aiden.
Hannah and Olivia were already with him, enjoying the ice cream and cookies Aiden had bought for them.
“Uncle, what took you so long?” Aiden asked as soon as he saw me.
I gave him a faint smile. “I just had to answer a call,” I lied.
Aiden nodded, accepting my excuse. “Umm, okay. Hannah and I want to go to the gift shop!” he declared excitedly.
“Hi, Dr. Morgan, thanks for the ice cream and cookies,” Hannah said sweetly.
I smiled and nodded at her in response.
“I was the one who bought them for you and Aunt Olivia,” Aiden protested, correcting her.
I just shook my head, amused by his reaction.
“But it was Dr. Morgan’s money. You told me before that your mom took your money,” Hannah reasoned, her voice calm but firm.
Aiden couldn’t argue with that, so he simply pouted his lips.
“Enough of that. Let’s go to the gift shop,” I said, cutting off their back-and-forth before it escalated.
