“What did I say last night when I was drunk?” I called Daniel the moment I reached my car.
My initial plan was to call Keith first, but I already knew he would still be asleep. Ever since he started managing his new business, he had been sleeping late. Even though he didn’t stay at his bar until closing time, his nights were still long. Ten in the morning was usually when he woke up—nine at the earliest.
My head was spinning, a dull ache pounding against my temples. The conversation I had with Olivia replayed in my mind, and no matter how I looked at it, it had ended badly. The tension, the words left hanging between us—it all sat heavily on my chest.
