Chapter 13
Edith tried to calm herself down. She knew that divorce was the top priority.
She dressed herself up, put on a pure white dress, and sent Parker a message.
“Parker, actually, I have one more gift to give you. I’m about to arrive outside the Greene Family house. Will you come out to meet me?”
Parker stood at the door of the room like a statue for a very long time.
Murphy and Cornelia never came out. What was happening inside was obvious.
He hadn’t expected them to be so open about it.
But could he blame them?
He was the one with no right to judge.
Parker’s face was expressionless as he absentmindedly fiddled with the cross in his hand.
The new bracelet felt unsmoothy in his hands, but the one he was used to had already broken.
He estimated that Edith was probably near the Greene Family’s house, so he descended the stairs stiffly, like a rusty robot.
Under the moonlight, Edith looked exceptionally delicate and charming, and Parker finally snapped out of his trance.
