Claire tried calling again, but the call went unanswered.
She sighed and gave up—for now. Since Ethan was at home, she couldn’t exactly use the “visiting a friend” excuse again. He might just tag along, and given his foul mood today, he clearly wouldn’t care about her so-called “friend’s” issues anyway.
Ethan was getting ready to shower. He took off his jacket and tossed it aside, and that unfamiliar phone slipped out of the pocket again, landing on the floor.
He gave it a quick glance, didn’t bother picking it up, and just headed to the bathroom.
After the shower, Ethan stood in front of the mirror, staring at the reddish marks on his face. Faint as they were, they still stood out. He muttered, “Shit.”
