"Hey, what is it? Can't you tell I'm busy?" The guy on the other end sounded pretty ticked off. Ethan didn't bother engaging. He just cut him off, "Be at my place in two minutes," and hung up right there. Emma glanced at Ethan's face, her feelings all tangled inside. He always acted like she annoyed him, but every now and then he'd do something that messed with her head. Ethan turned back and saw her red-rimmed eyes. His sharp gaze softened a bit. Rare patience in his voice, he asked, "What's wrong?" Emma stared at him, struggling. There was so much she wanted to say, but the words just wouldn't come out. Right then, Ryan Duval came barreling in, busting the quiet moment. "What happened? Who's dying?" Ryan panted, face flushed. "You are, maybe." Ethan shot him a cold glance and pointed toward Emma. "She was soaking in cold water for ages!" Ryan stared blankly. "Seriously? She just sat in cold water! You dragged me here like it's the apocalypse? She's not made of glass, man." "You got a
