Even as Michael kept rambling on, I ignored him and walked away with firm steps.
Just before stepping out the door, I turned back and said, in an almost businesslike tone, "I know you're a busy lawyer, so I've already booked your schedule for three days from now.
"I suggest you don't be late for our final meeting."
After I left, panic overtook Michael.
His only bargaining chip was now useless. He couldn't think of anything else to keep me. So, he immediately called HR.
"What's going on with Yvonne?" His tone was harsh, making the HR personnel flustered and confused.
Usually, he wouldn't care about routine resignations as long as work handovers were complete.
"Please don't worry, Mr. Grant. Ms. Jefferson has completed all her tasks. Her departure won't affect anything. This resignation was approved by you personally. Is there an issue?"
Michael rubbed his temples. He vaguely remembered signing something like that recently.
