I was stunned by the revelation and instinctively looked at Ryan. Yet, the normally unflappable man now showed a flicker of panic in his eyes before forcing himself to remain calm.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" he spat. "I was the one who saved Jane. She and her grandmother stayed at my family's hospital."
Marcus sized him up, as if something had just clicked. He let out a chuckle and stated calmly, "I was the one who found Jane and her grandmother on that rainy night.
"I didn't know where to take them, but your family's hospital happened to be the best one nearby. So, I brought them there and asked you to arrange a room for them.
"I never imagined you'd steal my identity as their savior and use that fabricated favor to bind her to your side for all these years."
As Marcus slowly revealed the truth, the color slowly drained from Ryan's face.
He turned to me with a feeble defense. "But it was my family's hospital, so in a way, I did save you…"
He kept repeating the sam
