Chapter 33 Running Into Him Again
When he saw me heading toward the bathroom care products, he said shyly from behind, "I've never bought anything for a woman before. I don't know what brands you use, so I just picked a few that smelled good."
"Thank you," I said, opening the shampoo and inhaling its scent.
It was sweet.
Later, he took me out to dinner.
Over the meal, he mentioned he was launching a startup and asked if I'd be interested in joining his company as a designer.
I knew he was trying to help, but after a year and a half in prison, I wasn't sure I was still up to the job.
When I told him this, he simply said, "I believe in you."
After dinner, he gave me a tour of his company and showed me the desk I'd be using.
I noticed it was the corner desk in the office closest to his.
"I remembered you always liked sitting in the corner during big lectures at school," he explained.
"Thank you."
Beyond that, I didn't know what to say.
That evening, he dropped me off at home and left like a gentleman.
