CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SEVEN - HUNT OR BE HUNTED?
As they carefully lifted Greg onto the stretcher, Mara couldn't help but marvel at how quickly they had come together in this crisis. People who had been strangers just days ago were now working in perfect synchronicity, their shared goal of survival overriding any previous differences.
With Greg secured, they set off once more, taking turns to carry the stretcher. The going was even slower now, the added weight making each step a struggle through the deep snow. Mara walked alongside the stretcher, keeping a constant eye on Greg's condition.
As the light began to fade, casting long shadows across the snow-covered landscape, desperation started to set in. They needed to find shelter soon, or Greg's chances of survival would plummet.
It was Clarissa who spotted it first. "Look!" she cried, pointing ahead. "Is that... a cabin?"
All eyes turned to where she was pointing. There, nestled among the trees, was the unmistakable silhouette of a small wooden structure.
