CHAPTER THIRTY ONE – ENTITLED HEIRESS
Mara stood outside the imposing Noble mansion, her heart pounding in her chest. She took a deep breath, smoothed down her blouse, and rang the doorbell. The chime echoed through the house, and moments later, the door swung open to reveal Clarissa Noble, Cassius' sister, in all her perfectly coiffed glory.
"You're late," Clarissa said, her voice dripping with disdain.
Mara checked her watch. "I'm actually five minutes early—"
"Well, I've been waiting for ten," Clarissa interrupted, turning on her heel. "Come along. There's work to be done."
As Mara followed Clarissa through the opulent foyer, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret. What had she gotten herself into?
Clarissa led her to a massive walk-in closet that looked like it had been hit by a fashion tornado. Designer clothes lay strewn across every surface, shoes were scattered haphazardly, and accessories dangled precariously from shelves.
