Chapter 8
After hearing the words Bryce blurted in his drunken state, Yara felt a weight on her chest, but her heart no longer hurt.
She closed her eyes and sighed deeply. When she opened them again, she was calm.
Then, she slung her bag over her shoulder and knocked on the door.
A few seconds later, Bryce's friends helped him out. After a few quick words, they helped him into the car and waved goodbye.
Yara drove Bryce home, and then she helped him into the villa.
He was too drunk to think straight. As soon as they reached the couch, he pulled her down onto it and refused to let go. Clinging to her, he called out for Yelena over and over.
Yara tried to pry his hands off her, her voice uncharacteristically firm.
"You've got the wrong person. I'm not your Lena."
Bryce opened his bleary eyes and stared at her for a long time, then his grip on her tightened.
"I know you're Lena. You're mad at me, aren't you? I'm sorry. I was wrong. I shouldn't have gone drinking when you told me not to," B
