I stood there, stunned, staring at Leonard. I wanted to tell him he didn't need to come.
But when I saw the wound on his shoulder, the words caught in my throat.
He helped me up, flanked by a few bodyguards.
"Don't worry. It's just a few thugs," he said, his voice calm despite the chaos. "I've already called the cops. They won't just let this slide. Trust me—we'll get out of here."
He held me tightly against his chest. Besides his words, all I could hear were the gunshots echoing around us.
Being this close to the sound of gunfire and seeing people drop to the ground—some dead—it hit me how terrifying it all was. People were dying. This wasn't some abstract fear anymore. I thought I was prepared for anything, but now, I realized I wasn't ready for this.
Leonard must've felt me trembling because he let out a soft chuckle and held me even closer.
"Don't be scared. I'm here. I'll protect you," he said to reassure me.
He moved us toward the other side of the factory as the wailing
