Before she could get a good look, Julian's body blocked her view completely.
He wrapped an arm around Anna's waist, his tone casual. "It's nothing, just a cat. Come on, let's go. Don't wanna keep them waiting."
Anna had always had a thing for anything soft and fluffy. The moment she heard "cat," the itch in her heart grew—she wanted to crawl out of his arms and find out what kind of cat it was.
But judging from the big hand on her waist, that obviously wasn't an option.
So she could only pout and mutter her disappointment, following Julian reluctantly toward the old castle, whining under her breath about what color the cat might be.
Their silhouettes slowly disappeared into the distance. In the dark underbrush behind them, a faint rustling broke the stillness.
