For the past few weeks, Selene had been traveling. Eventually, she settled in a quiet city near the border. She wandered the streets at her own pace, occasionally stopping to snap a few photos with her camera.
"Selene!"
Selene turned around when someone called her name. Even though the figure was still blurry in the distance, she recognized him in an instant.
It was Malcolm.
She frowned. It had been so long since she'd seen anyone related to her past that, for a moment, she had almost forgotten him.
Selene didn't understand. He never loved her, and she had left on her own. Why was he still pestering her?
Whenever she thought of Malcolm, she remembered her time at the Sinclairs and Nicholsons.
The warm weather in this city had done wonders, and her rib injury hadn't acted up in a long while. However, as soon as she saw Malcolm, the pain came surging back.
Selene quickened her pace and hurried away, using the crowd and narrow alleys to separate them.
