Vanessa stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do. This was new territory for her, feeling mad but not daring to act out. It was Jeremy who finally sensed the tension and pulled her away.
Eliana followed Lauren into the room. Once the door was shut, Lauren handed her a yellow gold bracelet.
"What's this for, Mrs. Natt?"
Lauren let out a sigh. "Lena, I've watched you grow up. This bracelet was always meant for you. Now, it's just finding its way back home."
Given Eliana's current situation, there was no way she could accept such a lavish gift. "I'm not in a position to take this right now. You should hold onto it for someone more deserving."
Lauren sighed again. "Jeremy's dad said his grandpa was on his last legs, so he wanted Jeremy to have a kid ASAP to secure a bigger share of the inheritance. Jeremy was just being foolish and ended up hurting you."
