Chapter 31
Gabriella dragged her sprained leg, limping as she walked in the car's direction. She opened the door opposite the driver’s seat.
Before she could settle in and buckle her seatbelt, Izaak stepped on the accelerator, and the car raced out like a speeding arrow.
A suffocating silence befell the car, and Gabriella felt the cold anger coming from the driver’s seat. She did not know why, but she could tell that Izaak was mad. Fuming mad.
His hands were gripping the steering wheel so hard his knuckles became white. He wore his ever-present frown, and his eyes were sharp and focused on the road.
Gabriella sat uncomfortably in the shotgun. Izaak drove with a disturbing silence all the way to their house. When they arrived at the villa, they sat in the car, and neither of them moved.
The prolonged, dreary silence gave the car a depressing atmosphere, making it hard for Gabriella to breathe. Unlike Izaak, she wasn’t at ease with the quietness.
