“What are you doing here?” Gabriella asked, and she didn’t care if she sounded rude and unpleasant.
“Why did it take you so long to come to the door?” Instead of answering, her mom scolded her.
“I was sleeping,” Gabriella reasoned. “Do you need anything? Is coffee okay?”
Rafaella rolled her eyes. “Do you think we came here for coffee? Dumbass.”
It was a great way to start Gabriella’s day. Really.
Gabriella pinched her thighs to stop herself from sending them out at once. She strived to stay polite.
“Do something about this!” Her mother roared as she flopped a set of documents on the coffee table.
Gabriella glanced at the papers, but she hadn’t understood the entirety. She picked up the documents, and she could roughly infer it was a kind of investment contract.
“What is this?” Gabriella asked.
“The rumors about your divorce reached everyone's ears,” Rafaella sneered. “Mom’s biggest investor rejected the contract renewal this year, and it’s your fault.”
