Chapter 81 – Betrayal

Gabriel's POV She's been my friend since we were little kids! She betrayed me! Who can I trust if not her? When I finally made it back to the pack after a fruitless hunt for Rosalie, she was the first to approach and offer me comfort. Ortega held me in her arms and reassured me that all would work out and that we would eventually locate my mate. And now it appears that she was complicit in my mate's disappearance, which is the most valuable item I own. Her exposure was due to my father's attentiveness; I never thought of her as a suspect. When we discovered the grave, only the warriors who accompanied me on that very day were aware that it was open. Thus, it was easy to see how Ortega was involved in this case. When the head warrior dragged her out of the dining area, I nearly choked. "Gabriel, she has more knowledge about it. My father told me, "The warriors have strict secrecy rules; no one in the pack knew the grave was open." He gave an angry snarl and turned to face the directi
