I opened the door and saw Ethan standing there. He was holding a medical kit in one hand and a takeout bag in the other.
When he saw me, he forced out a smile. "Lio, you didn't eat dinner. And you haven't treated your wounds…"
I didn't feel like listening to him go on and on. I started to push the door shut, but he quickly wedged his foot into the gap, blocking it.
"Sorry," he said. "I was too worked up earlier. I said a lot of awful things."
Since he was already blocking it, I didn't try to force the door shut. His expression carried a hint of guilty remorse, but it didn't move me.
I just asked coldly, "What's wrong? You're done accusing me of having an affair with your uncle?"
Ethan froze at my sarcasm. When he spoke again, his voice had gone quieter, almost like a kid confessing to his parents.
