Liora's POV
I stood up and, paying no mind to Tara's furious glare, said, "Instead of worrying about how my dad raised me, maybe you should reflect on your own parenting.
"What kind of family produces a father who cheats compulsively and drowns himself in alcohol, and then raises a son who also cheats?"
Tara's eyes burned with rage, practically spitting fire. She lifted her glass to throw water in my face. I tried to dodge it, but someone else reacted faster.
The scent of cedar wafted over, and a man clamped down his hand on Tara's wrist, stopping her.
"Tara, you look like you need to calm down."

I didn't know why, but the moment he appeared, I felt an inexplicable sense of relief.
Tara offered Kieran what could only be described as an ingratiating smile, though her expression was strained and her hand still hung awkwardly in the air.
