#Chapter 46 – The flutter in my heart

Bernice’s POV I wasn’t shot. But maybe it was an underlying heart condition that was causing me to feel like this. That had to be it. It was because of my Alpha medication; I didn’t have long to live. I could feel it. The strange fluttering in my heart was proof of that. I was starting to feel sick to my stomach; maybe even a little lightheaded. Landry pulled himself away from his sister and she wiped the remaining tears out of her eyes. She was still trembling uncontrollably, and she bit onto her bottom lip to keep herself from sobbing again. I knew this was a lot for her to handle. I couldn’t imagine that this happened to her a lot. “Denise… you saved my life,” she said in a mere whisper as she rushed toward me. Now it was my turn to receive a hug. I stood still, trying to calm my rapid heartbeat as she wrapped her arms around me. She was oddly stronger than she looked. She wrapped me in a tight hug, and I almost couldn’t breathe. “I don’t know what to say… how did y
