Seeing the argument brewing, Mrs. Hayes quickly tried to smooth things over. She turned to Dominic and said, “Dominic, that child has your blood. It'd be a shame to lose it like that. Just let her keep it for now.” Dominic tossed his napkin on the table and stood up. “I’m done. I’m leaving.” From behind, Mr. Hayes' voice rang out. “Dominic, that baby belongs to the Hayes family. We want it.” Dominic paused for a second, then walked off even faster. “Got it.” Seething with anger, Dominic slammed the gas pedal as soon as he got in the car.
