Chapter 104: The Betrayal
Rachel's face was pale as she stood on my doorstep, eyes red-rimmed from crying. I ushered her inside, my concern mounting with every passing second.
"Rachel, what happened?" I asked, guiding her to the couch. "You look like you've seen a ghost."
She took a deep, shuddering breath. "Lily, it's worse than I thought. The person sabotaging me at work... it's Angela."
I felt my jaw drop. Angela was one of Rachel's closest colleagues, someone she had always trusted. "Angela? Are you sure?"
Rachel nodded, tears spilling over again. "I found out this morning. I intercepted an email she sent to the client, twisting my words and undermining my credibility. And there were more—so many more emails and messages, all carefully hidden."
I sat beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I can't believe it. Angela always seemed so supportive. Why would she do this?"
Rachel wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. "I don't know, Lily. I feel so betrayed. I trusted her. I confided in her.
