Chapter 31: Time To Move On
Rachel left the market feeling a mix of emotions, most of them unpleasant. Disappointment gnawed
at her as she replayed her encounter with me over and over in her mind. Why had she acted that way? Why did she feel the need to try to hurt me? Lily didn’t deserve such treatment. She thought.
As she walked to her car, Rachel kept asking herself why she was finding it so difficult to move on.
Once in the car, she sat behind the wheel for a moment, staring at the dashboard. This feeling, this simmering resentment, was something she had been harboring for a long time. It was probably the reason she had offered to visit Jason in New Haven after initially declining his invite. There had been a part of her that wanted to hurt me, to make me feel the same pain she had felt when her relationship with Jason ended.
Rachel sighed, gripping the steering wheel tightly as she navigated through the town. Her mind was conflicting with emotions and lingering doubts.
