The low hum of the air conditioner filled the sterile silence of the room as Tiago concluded his conversation with Daphne. Lorenzo, ever the observer, had remained quiet, his gaze flickering between them. Now, with a sigh, Tiago turned towards him, a question etched on his brow.
"Any insights on Augusto's whereabouts on the day Jose died?" Tiago inquired, his voice laced with suspicion. The near-miss with Mariana had left him fuming, and Augusto was at the top of his suspect list.
Lorenzo stroked his chin thoughtfully. "There's an interesting detail I gleaned from my sources," he began, his voice a low rumble. "Augusto secured a meeting with Police Chief Gideon on that very day, and the previous day at a dinner."
Tiago's brow furrowed. Gideon? The city's police chief, known more for his political manoeuvring than his detective skills, seemed an unlikely ally for Augusto. A sardonic chuckle escaped his lips. "Gideon? What could be happening? What good could that old coot possibly do
