Mariana stared down at the divorce papers, a war raging within her. Mary's words echoed in her mind, painting a picture of a hidden tenderness beneath Tiago's stoic exterior. But could a loveless marriage, built on unspoken emotions and veiled actions, truly work?
With a sigh, Mariana made her decision.
"Thank you, Mary," she said finally, her voice hoarse. "Give these to Mr. Alarc?o."
She picked up a pen and signed the document on the dotted line. A small, almost inaudible sob escaped her lips as she did so.
Kyle reached out and took the papers from her, his gaze lingering on her for a moment longer than necessary. A flicker of something akin to disappointment crossed his features before he schooled his expression back into his usual stoicism.
"As I thought," he muttered, more to himself than to Mariana. "Mr. Alarc?o has only ever truly cared about two people – his mother, and you."
He reached into his briefcase and pulled out another document. "This is for you as well
