Chapter 320
Giselle entered, taking the three by surprise.
Nolan was the first to react, hurriedly rising to greet Giselle with an overly familiar manner.
"If I knew you were coming, I would've picked you up," he said.
Their relationship was no secret to the public. 18 Xi was calling Giselle to sit next to him and whispered to her, "What's the deal with you and Nolan? Are you two really together?”
Giselle shook her head. "I'm not familiar with him," she replied.
Nolan, who heard this, was unpleasantly surprised. "How come we're suddenly not familiar? We've hugged, we've cuddled - how can you treat me like a stranger?"
His words left room for people's imagination.
Andrew raised an eyebrow, "Giselle, you can't take advantage of our young brother and take no responsibility."
“Since when did he become your younger brother?" she questioned.
Giselle thought to herself that the world really is small.
Andrew answered, "I've known Nolan since his debut, why can't I call him my younger brother?"
He asked with a grin, "You're not embarrassed about going from my sister-in-law to being my sister-in-law, are you?"
It was exhausting to explain things to Andrew.
Finally, Giselle gave up resisting and went along with Andrew's teasing.
In any case, despite what Andrew said, he knew in his heart that Giselle didn't seem to have any romantic interest in Nolan.
On the contrary, Nolan laid his feelings towards Giselle out in the open.
Giselle sat in the private room for quite a while before she finally understood from the conversation how these three people came together.
Andrew invested in a film, a big production.
According to Andrew, he had put several hundred million yuan into it, pouring in all the money he had earned over the years.
The director was Nolan's uncle.
The main roles were played by these three. The leading female role, Nancy drew in the box office, Nolan brought in the traffic. The third wheel, who had terminated her contract with her previous management company a few months ago, now signed with Andrew's company. As the only artist currently signed in the company, the company strongly promoted her. Her role was also very significant.
The contracts were all signed, just waiting for the crew to start filming.
As the investor, Andrew summoned these three together out of sheer idleness. He didn’t ask them to perform well, so he wouldn’t lose money. He was filled with enthusiastic spirit, proclaiming that he was to create a phenomenal movie to prove to everyone his keen eye and ability as an investor.
Giselle, an outsider, wasn't allowed to leave once she entered.
She listened to Andrew discourse grandly, as if he were leading a pyramid scheme.
She didn't feel like listening.
In fact, no one was really paying attention to what Andrew was saying, except for the third wheel.
One has to flatter one's boss.
On the coffee table in front of her was a fruit plate. Giselle picked up a small fork, stuck a piece and put it in her mouth. Nancy next to her said, "Giselle, what's your price now?"
The two weren't close, with Nolan sitting between them.
When Nancy finished speaking, both Nolan and Giselle turned their attention towards her.
"I said I want pictures taken." Nancy said to Giselle, "I saw the photographs you took of Nolan earlier. Your work has improved significantly. I believe I can't find a better photographer locally, so when you have time, can you take a set for me?"
She added, "Money is not an issue."
For anyone else, the phrase 'money is not an issue' could coax Giselle to create time, even when there aren't any windows of opportunity to do so.
But when facing Nancy—
Giselle responded, "I don't really have time."
Her refusal was straightforward, without any hesitation, lacking even the superficial politeness one might expect in a social setting.
Nancy just smiled without saying anything.
Nolan glanced at Nancy, and then at Giselle, keenly sensing something amiss between the two women.
As the meeting drew to a close, Giselle went to the washroom.
When she emerged, she encountered Nancy by the sinks.
Their first meeting was in the bathroom.
At that time, even without knowing who Nancy was, Giselle was unusually attentive due to Nancy's attractiveness, as if she had encountered a rival.
Perhaps this was destined by fate.
"Giselle, do you have any particular views about me?" Nancy asked as Giselle washed her hands at the mirror.
She didn't look at Giselle, engrossed in touching up her make-up, as though her question was casually uttered.
And so, Giselle provided a casual response, "Can't say I have opinions, but I think it's better we don't interact with each other."
"Not even for the sake of money?" Having finished her makeup and tucked her lipstick away, Nancy turned to Giselle. "Why should women oppress other women? After all, we only share the same ex, there's no need for this."
"Unless..." She stared at Giselle as if she was trying to see through her, "...you haven't moved on from Maverick."
Giselle found it amusing. What right did Nancy have to test her?
She finished washing her hands, dried them with a paper towel, tossed it into the trash bin, and finally met Nancy's gaze, "I'm not interested in your money, and as for Maverick, his choices have nothing to do with me."
With that, Giselle left.
Nancy slightly pulled at the corner of her mouth. She was actually trying to extend an olive branch sincerely.
....
Once Giselle returned to her private room, the others were about ready to leave.
Andrew had drunk a bit too much, with the B-listers helping him, they all started to go outside.
Unexpectedly, they encountered that group of people again outside.
There would have been no conflict, although that man was resentful towards Giselle, Andrew was there, keeping him in check.
Who would have thought that once Andrew saw that man, his drunken state couldn’t suppress his anger.
He rushed over and directly kicked the man.
Who isn’t a man here? Even if they were afraid of Andrew, there’s no reason for them to let someone hit them twice without fighting back. So, the man stood up and began to fight back.
The crowd was already with the man, Andrew was no match for them.
The man thought Andrew going crazy was on behalf for Giselle, he grabbed Andrew's collar, "What's your relation to Giselle? Just because I touched her waist, is it worth you getting this worked up?"
It would have been better if he hadn’t said anything; but once he did, Nolan heard it and asked Giselle, "Sister, did he touch you?"
His question was heard by the man who became arrogantly triumphant, “So what if I touched her? I not only touched her waist, but also kissed her sister..."
"Go fuck yourself."
"Shit!"
Two expletives almost sounded at the same time.
Before Giselle could react, Nolan charged in, and with Andrew, the scene instantly became chaotic.
There were many people on the other side, even though these two were tall, they were outnumbered. The audience from the 18th line also charged in, Giselle could only watch.
Perhaps it was the alcohol that was causing this mess, this group of people were fighting right at the entrance of the club, without considering their status.
Nancy made a call. By the time Joey got there, the crowd was already causing chaos, pushing Nancy who lost her balance and was falling backward. Joey immediately stepped forward and caught her.
By the time he steadied Nancy, the club's security had all come over and immediately separated the two groups.
Giselle went in and didn't get hurt, Nolan had been protecting her, taking the brunt of the blows instead, painting his face with bruises and contusions.
And yet, he laughed and asked Giselle, "Wasn't I cool just then?"
As Giselle was at a loss for words, some cars drove up to the entrance of the club. They probably saw the commotion, their headlights shining bright as people started to get out of the cars.
Giselle first saw Steward, and then Pei Shao.
She furrowed her brows, feeling an ominous sense of what was to come...
