Chapter 327
Giselle just took a glance, a smile rising on her face, an emotionless smile.
"Mr. Hyland, what a coincidence."
This call of 'Mr. Hyland' caused Maverick to frown.
Steward also looked at Giselle, saying, "Why are you addressing him as Mr. Hyland? We're not here for business."
Giselle replied, "We're supposed to be discussing business, it's just that Mr. Hyland has been too busy. But surprisingly, I bump into him here, isn't that just the perfect opportunity?"
Upon hearing this, Steward understood.
He said, "You two chat, I'll take a run."
As Steward walked out, a group of people huddled and murmured to each other. As they saw Steward approach, they yanked him in, curiously asking, "What happened? Is Giselle targeting old Bo again?"
"She's been divorced for half a year, but still craves the title of Mrs. Bo’s wife."
"Nonsense," Steward retorted, "They’re just discussing work issues."
"Discussing work?"
The nearby Pei Shao suddenly realized, "She couldn't land a deal with Chen's Project, so she changed it to Bo's. Give it to Giselle, she does have a cockroach-like resilience."
"Are you talking about the Chen from the north of the river?"
Someone asked.
Pei Shao nodded, "Yes, that one."
The man laughed softly, lowering his voice to say, "Here's a heads-up for everyone, avoid any business dealings with the Morris family from Jiangbei recently, they seem preoccupied."
It seemed that the man making this comment had some connections.
Upon hearing his words, everyone understood the message.
Pei Shao clicked his tongue lightly, "Isn't it too much of a coincidence if something really happens? The young boss Chen hasn't held his position for more than a few days."
"What do you mean?"
Someone raised an eyebrow toward Maverick and Giselle's direction.
"Who knows?" Pei Shao said, "Who can fathom what Maverick is thinking? On that day, he was indifferent to Giselle's situation outside, but with just one word from Nancy, he stepped up to help, I went home and thought about it for two nights and still couldn't figure it out."
"What, are you scared to touch Nancy because of his important role in Maverick's eyes? I say you have been pursuing him for more than half a year, you should give up."
"You know nothing," Pei Shao said, "Chasing a beautiful woman is always challenging, which is quite normal. She has this advantage, good things are precious only when they are hard to get."
Pei Shao spoke, casting another glance in their direction, truly unable to understand.
Isn't it too coincidental if the Chens run into trouble now???
.....
Giselle barely exchanged a few words with Maverick, although she spoke quite a lot, Maverick responded almost nothing.
He was listening but not talking.
That indifferent yet seemingly interested attitude was torturing Giselle.
She decided to be straightforward. "Mr. Hyland, are you really interested in cooperating with the Hawk family or not?”
A sense of impatience leaked out of her voice despite her best efforts to conceal it.
"Why do you think I am here listening to your ramblings?”
This essentially translates into, "If I were not interested, you wouldn't even have the chance to speak to me.”
At this, Giselle adjusted her breathing, lowering her volume. "So, Mr. Hyland, given everything I've just mentioned, are you satisfied with the project proposal for the alliance of the two families?”
Maverick simply replied, "Not bad.”
"What about the contract..."
Giselle steered the conversation to the main point.
Upon hearing this, Maverick glanced at her with a cool look. "Giselle, that's not how negotiations work.”
"What do you mean..."
Just as Giselle was about to ask further, Maverick didn’t offer her a chance to do so. He turned around and walked from the resting area directly to the horse field, took the horse led by a staff member, mounted it with a leap, and seated himself sturdily.
His horse-riding posture was indeed good-looking.
However, Giselle had no mind to appreciate it. The implication of Maverick’s words weighed heavily on her.
What did he mean by negotiations?
Did he mean she should accompany him for drinks, just as she usually did when negotiating contracts?
Giselle furrowed her brows, when she looked over, Maverick's horse had already galloped to the other side of the track.
There were quite a number of people on the track, but Maverick stood out the most.
This man, no matter where he was, seemed to have an aura about him that was particularly eye-catching.
Giselle withdrew her gaze, headed towards the dressing room to change her clothes, and sat in the lounge area without leaving after changing.
She was waiting—
Maverick was hard to see, and once she got the chance, she couldn't easily give it up.
During the wait, Giselle received a WeChat message, sent by Nolan, stating that he was waiting for her off work at the Yan building.
Giselle responded, "I am not in the company."
Nolan, "You're lying to me?"
"Don't believe it, so be it."
"So where are you? I'll treat you to dinner."
"No time!"
After replying, Giselle shut off her phone without checking the messages again because Maverick and his group were having a great time and were coming their way.
She stood up, and naturally, her eyes scanned for Maverick and landed on him.
Maverick didn't look at her, but the few brothers by his side exchanged ambiguous glances between each other.
Giselle remained entirely unaffected, uncaring of these people's opinions about her.
After they changed their clothes and came out again, Giselle followed them and stopped Maverick first.
"Chairman Bo."
Facing the eyes of all, she walked up to Maverick and said, "Regarding the project, if you are not available today, can we set up a time for a face-to-face discussion?"
Her serious tone caught some people off guard.
After all, the old Giselle never showed this side before.
Their feeling was akin to seeing a woman who had led a questionable life now leading a respectable one; it was undeniably strange no matter how they looked at her.
Yet, she stood there, straight and professional, looking like a white-collared worker who had been in the industry for at least ninety percent of their career.
Some people were simply born to act, to display an actor's footprint.
Maverick looked at Giselle, his face expressionless as he indifferently replied, "If I have the time, it's not impossible."
His reply was extremely vague; no one knew whether he would have time.
"Could we confirm a time?"
"Confirm what, isn't today perfect?" Steward interrupted, "We're going to have a meal. You can come along, and I'm sure you'll find a chance to talk to Yinmo about your contract."
He turned to Maverick, "You don't mind, do you?"
Maverick remained silent, turned, and walked away. He was a man of strange temperament - his silence was assent.
Steward patted Giselle's shoulder, "Let's go."
Giselle hesitated for a moment, then followed. She didn't want to miss this opportunity. She didn't wish to spend every day competing with Maverick, exhausting herself mentally and physically. Since they had to talk, it would be best if they could sort things out in one go.
Steward walked fast and soon came to Maverick's side. He clicked his tongue, "What's with your posture? All you want is to tell Giselle that you have time today. Can't you just say it directly? Why do you need to beat around the bush? With Giselle's mentality, she can keep going back and forth with you ten times, don't you find it tiresome?"
Maverick glanced at Steward coldly and scoffed, "As if you're the smart one."
Steward curled his lips in a dismissive manner. Indeed, if it weren't for him, how could Giselle obediently follow Maverick as he had hoped?
