Chapter 145: She never calls during work hour
Rose's eyes widened in horror as she locked gazes with the woman standing before her. It was Miss Mary, the infamous figure from the orphanage who had mysteriously vanished—the same woman Regina had warned her about, with a chilling reputation and an aura of malevolence.
With trembling hands, Rose dialed Regina's number, her fingers stumbling over the keypad. But the call went unanswered, leaving her with a sense of desperation.
She tried again, her anxiety escalating. The phone rang and rang, but Regina didn't pick up.
As she glanced up, Miss Mary's malevolent smirk sent shivers down her spine. The door, once her escape route, now seemed impassable, refusing to budge despite her frantic attempts.
Sweat dripped from Rose's brow as she dialed Regina's number once more, only to be met with silence.
"Trying to run away?" Miss Mary taunted, her eyes gleaming with malice.
Noticing the phone in Rose's hand, Miss Mary's grin broadened. "How clever of you, seeking help from the girl."
