Brian had heard the ripping sound clearly. He had not expected the situation to turn out like this. Frowning, he asked, "Did the fabric tear? Where exactly? Are you hurt?"
Charlotte didn't even let him finish. She snapped back at him, her voice sharp with anger. "My skirt. What else could it be? Why on earth were you pulling me like that? Do you expect me to just walk out there like this? You bastard!"
Brian stayed silent for a moment before replying in an unapologetic tone, "You were the one trying to run."
Despite his words, he reached up, removed the suit jacket from his torso, and held it out to her. His voice remained cold. "Put this on. I'll take you to buy a new one. I'll pay for it."
Charlotte snatched the jacket from his hand and wrapped it tightly around her waist without the slightest hint of gratitude. The jacket was large enough to cover the tear in her skirt, though it did not match her outfit at all. Still, at least it kept her decently covered.
