"Crap." I utter intermittently.
Will he think I've ditched him? I can't imagine how to give him a believable story, not when I've promised Gomez that I won't mention Allie. Dante will see right through me.
I'm physically sweating, as I hop out of my rusty car and limp towards the silent summerhouse. I won't let my stupidity end the one positive aspect in my life.
As I knock on the pastel blue door, it creaks open slowly, catching me off guard.
"Dante?" I call softly, pushing the door gently to reveal the darkened room. It's deathly silent, the smell of alcohol piercing my nostrils. Covering my nose, I look for the adjacent light switch. Dante would never leave this place unlocked. "Dante." I repeat, breathing through my mouth. I've never been able to get used to the smell of alcohol. I limp towards the seating area, spotting a distorted shape sticking out like a sore thumb. I look for the last light, giving up and switching on the lar
