Chapter 126
Haley’s POV:
The sound of Susan’s voice cut through the noise of the street.
“Help me!” she shouted, her voice high and panicked.
Logan’s head turned instantly. I followed his gaze and saw her. The man had caught up to her and now Susan was struggling in the grip of a man whose hand was clamped hard around her arm. His face was half-hidden in shadow, but I could see the ugly set of his jaw and the way he leaned toward her like he owned her.
“Stay here,” Logan murmured in my ear, his voice low, tight. His arm around my waist tightened. “Don’t move.”
The man looked up and saw us watching. His lip curled into a sneer. “Mind your own business.”
Logan stepped forward. “Let her go.”
“She’s fine,” the man said, gripping Susan’s arm even tighter. She winced, trying to pull back.
“Does she look fine to you?” Logan’s voice was calm but sharp, each word clipped.
The man’s eyes narrowed. “Walk away. This isn’t your problem.”
Logan’s tone didn’t change. “Last chance.”
The man gave a mocking laugh.
