Vivian’s voice echoed in the room, sharp and venomous.
“She had a husband and a child of her own,” she said loudly, standing in front of Logan’s desk. “And she walked out on them. Tell me, how can a woman like that take care of a child like Lily?”
I stared at her, stunned.
Logan’s jaw tightened, but Vivian continued, her arms crossed, her voice growing colder. “Your little nanny here is a divorced woman."
My breath caught in my throat.
“She ran off,” Vivian sneered. “Left behind a marriage and a child. And now she plays house with you and Lily, pretending to be someone she’s not.”
“That’s enough,” Logan said, his voice low and dangerous.
But Vivian was far from finished. “You think she’s some miracle woman? Some savior for Lily? She couldn’t even stay in her own home. She couldn’t raise her own child.”
“Vivian,” Logan warned again.
“She’s unstable,” Vivian spat. “And selfish. Women like her can’t be trusted with delicate children like Lily. It’s only a matter of time before she breaks
