Chapter 93
The wind had turned cold as I stood up from the swing. The park was quiet now. Jordan had already left with Sebastian. I thought that was the end of it.
But it wasn’t.
I heard footsteps behind me and turned.
Sebastian.
Again.
“What now?” I asked, crossing my arms.
He looked tense. Out of breath. His eyes full of something I didn’t want to see.
“I didn’t mean to leave like that,” he said.
“Jordan already went with you. You should go with him.”
He didn’t answer.
Before I could say another word, he leaned in and kissed me.
It wasn’t soft.
It wasn’t kind.
It was desperate.
And completely unwanted.
For a second, my body froze in shock.
Then, anger surged through me. I shoved him back, hard. My palm connected with his cheek in a loud slap that echoed in the empty park.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” I snapped, breathless. “You’re engaged!”
He staggered, touching his face. “I—Haley—I don’t know why I did that.”
I took two steps back, my fists trembling at my sides. “That’s not an excuse.”
