Skylar suddenly grabbed Aiken's arm tightly.
Aiken turned to look at her and asked, "Can you still hold on?"
These simple words answered the question that had been pressing at the bottom of Skylar's heart since she stepped out of the elevator.
It was an answer she didn't want to guess or admit.
Her eyes reddened as she looked at Aiken, unable to say a single word. She didn't know how to ask.

He had seen Skylar laugh, being serious and confident when she was being professional, but he had never seen her like this—so pale and afraid. He felt a sudden urge to protect her, thinking she shouldn't have to face this. It was too cruel for her.
"I need to see her. Maybe it's not Grandma Viola," Skylar said firmly.
Although her eyes were red, there was no trace of hesitation in them.
