Chapter 136
The moment they stepped out of the restaurant, Marina kept her perfect smile plastered on her face until they were out of sight. The second the door closed behind them and the cold night air hit her skin, David ripped his arm free from her grip.
“Why the hell did you have to go to her table?” His voice was sharp, cutting like ice. His jaw was tight, his eyes blazing.
Marina blinked, caught off guard. “David…”
“Answer me!” He snapped, his voice louder this time. People waiting outside the restaurant turned their heads, curious, but David didn’t care. “Why did you have to go and bother her?”
Marina’s lips trembled for a second before she forced a soft pout. “I wasn’t bothering her. I just went to say hello, that’s all. It’s been a while since I saw her…”
“Don’t lie to me,” David’s voice dropped low, dangerous. He stepped closer, his face inches from hers. “I know exactly what you were trying to do in there. You wanted to humiliate her.”
Marina’s eyes widened, her innocent act faltering.
