  After traversing the jungle for a while, Ethan&#39;s wolf halted, crouching low and gathering strength. I immediately leapt to his side, letting out a threatening growl from my throat.
  He was right to do so. Instantly, I caught the scent of an unfamiliar pack of wolves, and the smell of blood.
  “Alpha Ethan?” The wolves peered at us, their clothes torn and bloodstained.
  Each looked dejected and listless. What had happened?
  “Logan?” Keith recognized the familiar wolf. He&#39;d visited Kyle&#39;s pack before, though he hadn&#39;t met Kyle himself, but only his brother Logan.
  I quickly sensed something was terribly wrong. The number of wolves in their pack? I dared not speculate further. This was bad.
