Ivy seemed to be radiating a confidence and charm that belonged to her alone.
For some reason, Julian felt a pang of guilt. Loving someone was like tending a flower. He had failed her, which was why she had looked so worn and tired during their time together.
Seeing Julian stay silent for a long time, Ivy continued, "After learning about Lucas' past, I don't care about the trick he pulled when I was picking my husband. If I had married someone else, I might not be this happy now.
"All the people he hurt before had hurt him first. An eye for an eye. It's fair that way. Aren't Sophie and you proof of that? She's in prison, and I won't let you off either."
Julian didn't react to her words. Instead, he felt a strange comfort knowing Ivy still cared about him in some way. Still, he tried one last time. "If I'm willing to be at your beck and call, would you be with me again?"
He pushed the papers showing all his assets toward her, hoping to prove his sincerity.
