I didn't remember how I made it back to my car after what I saw and after what I heard.
Olivia—my Olivia—was gently leaning over Derek, adjusting the bandage on his forehead with those gentle, precise fingers I remembered so well. Her brows were creased in worry, her lips moving softly as she murmured something to him. I didn't even need to hear the rest; those few words made it clear where I stood in her life now. I could feel the care in every inch of her body, every touch. That was the same warmth she used to give me—the same tenderness she had once used to bandage my wounds after a long patrol, a fight with rogues, a nightmarish battle. Back when I had been her everything. When she saw me as her whole world. But then I was the one who rejected her, the one who betrayed her and never appreciated her efforts.
Now I was nothing but a ghost watching through a glass wall.
My fists clenched at my sides. I wanted to tear something apart, to howl at the Moon Goddess herself,
