THIRD PERSON’S POV
Aurelia jolted awake in the library chair, the book slipping from her lap.
The moon outside was still high, silver light spilling through the window onto the floorboards.
Her breath came fast, uneven.
Her skin was cold — yet her palms glowed faintly with a dark, silver sheen before it vanished again.
She pressed her trembling hand to her chest.
“Shadows are not my enemies,” she whispered to the empty room.
But as she said it aloud, she wasn’t sure if she believed it yet.
The war drums at the borders had not yet sounded, but the air already trembled with unease.
Aurelia felt it deep in her bones — the pull of tension, the weight of something about to break.
Derek had ordered her to stay within the heart of the pack, far from the borders.
For once, she hadn’t argued.
There was too much chaos swirling in her mind — too many questions without answers, too many truths she wasn’t ready to face.
She needed space.
She needed silence.
So she walked.
