Marcus's eyes landed on the steaming container sitting on the coffee table. His brows furrowed instantly.
Elaine had no idea mac and cheese offended him so deeply. But then again, in his high-end, fine-dining world, the stuff she loved probably didn't even qualify as food.
Poor guy, missing out on all the good things in life just because he had a thing against processed cheese dust and pasta spirals.
Elaine felt a little sympathy for him. But the smell was just too good to ignore.
She picked up the container and said casually,
"Got a little hungry after messing around, so I nuked one of these. Want a bite?"
As she peeled the lid back, she dramatically waved the cup in front of Marcus's face. He recoiled immediately, scowling.
"Keep that thing away from me."
Elaine pouted, mumbling,
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Not five-star enough for your palate."
The room now smelled of artificial cheese and buttered pasta. Elaine didn't care one bit. Ignoring Marcus's half-disgusted expression, she scooped
