Chapter 135
Right as Elaine started to fall, she instinctively reached out and wrapped her arms around his waist. But she couldn't stop him either—Marcus seemed like he was doing it on purpose. The moment she lost her balance, he followed her down, leaning forward.
And they just... stayed like that, frozen in that awkward position, eyes locked. The first to snap out of the trance was Elaine. She pulled her neck back and said cautiously, "Marcus, if you've got something to say, just say it. Why are you all up in my face?"
Marcus had already realized what was going on, but he didn't move away.
He simply withdrew his arm from her waist and placed both hands on the backrest behind her, effectively caging her in.
"If something's bothering you, just say it out loud," he said in a calm, coaxing tone.
Elaine gave him a strained smile. "Bothering me? Like what?"
Marcus let out a cold chuckle. "Can't spit out the cringe stuff now? Or have you just said it so many times you're tired of hearing it yourself?"
