Chapter 27 Broken Bonds, New Beginnings
The sound of the message broke the silence of the night, waking me up. I stayed still, pretending to sleep, as Raymond picked up his phone. For some reason, a deep sense of unease settled in my chest.
Raymond's expression darkened as he looked at the screen. I leaned closer carefully, wanting to ask what was wrong. I tried to sneak a glance at his phone, but he quickly pulled it away, got dressed, and left the room without saying a word.
I watched him walk away, a mix of emotions swirling inside me. Part of me thought I should feel relieved, but instead, panic and fear swept over me. How foolish I was to think that Raymond changed back to the gentle husband I once knew.
I made up my mind. I didn't know what Raymond had seen, but the coldness in his eyes and the way he left without a word gave me a bad feeling. I had to plan for the future. I'd already lost so much, and I couldn't bear to stay with Raymond any longer. I needed to find Blake. I couldn't lose him.
