I ran. Faster than I ever had before, faster than my legs should have allowed.
The cold night air whipped against my face, burning my lungs, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop.
The scent of blood and burning wood filled my senses, guiding me through the thick trees. The path Raymond had left behind was easy to follow—shredded earth, broken branches, claw marks embedded deep into the trees. He wasn’t just running. He was escaping.
