#Chapter 70 - A Pain Like No Other

All things considered, I was feeling pretty at ease.
Oddly enough, I wasn’t feeling that normal sense of dread when Violet insisted on returning back home yesterday. I knew it mainly had to do with the fact that neither of us was willing or wanting to go back to that ridiculous agreement we had originally made.
What Violet and I had between us felt a lot more tangible than it ever was before. More certain and solid.
I could tell that Violet was still very put off by the lack of progress when it came to finding out who was responsible for the poisoned wine. As was I.
We didn’t have any legitimate leads. Not really. Knowing that Jacob Sterling had once owned the coin pouch meant near to nothing now.
And to find out that he had gifted it to someone wasn’t saying much either.
“Well, you’re certainly looking a bit better today, all things considered,” Dmitrius commented.
I didn’t need to glance up to know that he was hanging out in the shadows of the roo
